5 Lessons from the Coaching Giants

I know I’ve talked a lot about my mentor, Steve Chandler and his book, The Prosperous Coach. In addition, he has a great program called Advanced Client Systems and many coaches have attended multiple times! Rich Litvin, who as a beginning coach only earned $10 per client for one month, now charges over $100K per client for his apprenticeship program. He is the co-author of The Prosperous Coach and he went through Steve Chandler’s program four times. Rich collected no after no after no when he first began coaching (sound familiar?). But, instead of giving up, he kept learning, changing and honing in on his client creation skills. And even after he’d mastered the art of enrollment so well that he could co-author a best-selling book about it, he kept learning. You know why? It was because of the nuances, the gems and the way that he changed through every program and coach he worked with.

That’s the beauty of learning. It never stops. There is always a new golden nugget that you can pick up, even if you’ve heard it before. The first time you hear anything it’s for information. The second time is for transformation. I am grateful for the coaching giants in the world who never stop learning because they pour into the community and make us all the better for it. I stand on the shoulders of these coaching giants. I’ve picked up the gems they’ve given me. I’ve listened to them again and again. I have re-read and highlighted their books. And I have gleaned as much as I can from what they so willingly share. And each time, I hear something in a new way.

Lessons from the Giants:

  1. Slow down every client interaction, especially in enrollment.
  2. Your value is not based on a monetary number.
  3. Creating clients comes from service, not sales.
  4. Listen for what your potential client isn’t saying, ask about that.
  5. Coaching is an experience not a concept.

The results you are getting in your life and your business are perfect for the systems you’ve created (I learned that from a giant). When you think of the way your day is set up, the thoughts that you ruminate on and the committed actions that you take, they all point back at the very life you are living. If you are struggling as a coach to learn how to enroll and serve clients, to earn an income, and to raise your confidence, it’s time to change your system. What I know with 100% certainty is that if you do nothing, you will live in your default future, it’s pretty much the way you are living today. But, if you want to create your future, you have to decide to take a new action.

Here are some questions to reflect on:

What have you heard that has helped you to build a successful coaching practice?

Who are your coaching giants?

What are you doing to grow personally and professionally?

Where are you getting in your own way?

If you’re ready to make a change to up your client enrollment game, I encourage you to commit to yourself and go all in. My Stairway to Six Program: From client enrollment to the close, is open for coaches who want to take their business to the next level. Several dedicated coaches have already registered and many others have questions about what the program experience will be like. That’s why I have created a mini-series with content taken right from the program that I am going to teach just like I do during Stairway to Six. This mini-series offers 5 different 1-hour sessions and was built for you to get key takeaways that you can implement immediately to start growing your business AND to see if the program and the way I work are a good fit for you. There is no cost and no strings attached.

The next one is Thursday, October 28, 2021 and is all about Connection Call Basics. You won’t want to miss it.  The information on mini-series content and how to sign up is here.
