Authority is not what most people think it is.

It is not about being the loudest person in the room or having the most impressive title. Authority is a way of being. It is a posture. An internal knowing that says I am here, I have a right to be here, and my opinion matters as much as anyone else`s.

It is showing up without apologizing for yourself. It is a presence that is both likable and trustworthy. It is knowing who you are so clearly that other people want to follow your lead.

And here is what I see in so many women, they are waiting for someone to hand it to them. To be recognized. To be given permission.

Authority is not granted. It is claimed.

So today I want you to ask yourself, what is the story you are telling about why someone else has more of a right to be in that room than you do? Follow that down. Because I think you are going to find that you are more of an authority than you have been giving yourself credit for.
