As an entrepreneur, you’re probably used to saying yes to anyone willing to pay for your services. I get it…you have mortgages, utilities, food, children, etc. 💰⁠
⁠
There’s something more important than the money, though - rather than saying “yes” to every person who comes your way, you should learn how to prioritize your clients over currency.⁠
⁠
Next time a client asks you, “How much do you charge?” I want you to slow things down…⁠
⁠
Say something like, “I’m glad we’re here, but first I have a few requirements for every client that I work with.” 📝⁠
⁠
Then say, “The first requirement is being ready.” This is important because clients will often have a lot on their plate.⁠
⁠
They will usually need to think about this for a while. That’s a good thing. You want them to think about it and decide whether this is the best commitment financially and for themselves.⁠
⁠
You also want the clients to have some kind of experience with you to go off of.⁠
⁠
This is a great time to offer them a coaching session where they get to see what your coaching consists of. Your clients need to be able to FEEL it…because it’s all about the connection. 👭⁠
⁠
When you learn to implement this practice, you’ll slow down long enough to see whether you’d be a good fit to work with each other. Then you’ll be able to speed up the process of working together from then on.⁠

Remember to prioritize your clients over currency, and you’ll set up the best coaching relationships with your ideal clients! 💁‍♀️⁠

When you’re working with a potential client and it’s time to speak with them about money, they may give you the following feedback:⁠

1. That’s a lot of money.⁠
⁠
2. I need to think about it.⁠
⁠
3. No, thanks.⁠
⁠
4. Yes, let’s work together!⁠
⁠
Whatever the response, it’s important to help them understand and communicate what would happen if they decided to work with you. 🤝⁠
⁠
Before saying goodbye, have your client get out a piece of paper and ask them to write down the following bolded words. Make the way you explain each bolded word unique to what it is they want. Always bring it back to their vision.⁠
⁠
Note: This works best after you have given them an actual coaching session to experience.⁠
⁠
➡️ Vision: “Today we spent this session on your vision. We accomplished xyz. Imagine what would happen if we did this week-after-week, putting all of our time and attention into what it is that you want to create.”⁠
⁠
➡️ Strategy: “Week-to-week and month-to-month, we’ll come up with the actions you need to take to make this vision real.”⁠
⁠
➡️ Mindset: “We talked about how your mindset gets in the way. We’ll take a look at your mindset around xyz, and other areas we haven’t uncovered yet, to help you move forward.”⁠
⁠
➡️ Skillset: “There are some skills you’ll need to build to get to your vision. You may need some high-level negotiation skills, a therapist, or a CPA (fill in the blank). Some you may work on with me and I’ll give you resources.”⁠
⁠
➡️ Energy: “This is the most important. We have to work on what energizes and drains you. Draw a line on a piece of paper. On one side write what drains you, and on the other side write down what energizes you. Write down three things in each area. We’ll work on the energy drains that get in the way of your vision.”⁠
⁠
Then close by saying this is how you’ll work together. When they go back to contemplate on what it is that coaching will do for them, they’ll have this information with them. You can also email it as well, but only after they write it down.⁠
