The New Year is a time for reflection, new beginnings, and hope. It’s a time to take stock of what was successful the year before and to note what wasn’t. It’s a clean slate, fresh start, and an unopened gift.

As we close out 2015, I encourage you to take an inventory of your year. On a sheet of paper make two columns. In the first column, make a list of all of your accomplishments from the year.
What wins did you have?
What dreams came true?
What goals did you accomplish?

In the second column, write out where you fell short.
What got in your way of living your very best life?
What do you wish you had done differently?
What opportunities passed you by?

On another sheet of paper, write “My Sweet 16” across the top. Underneath it, free write everything that comes to mind. What would make your 2016 your very best year? Be specific. Is it a promotion? Improved relationships? A new career? More friends? A hobby? Finding your life’s purpose? When we put words down on paper and are intentional about our wants, desires, and goals, we are more prone to seek opportunities that will help us get there.

Next, compare your two lists. How does the life you are living in 2015 compare to the life you are wanting in 2016? What will you have to let go of in order to live your sweet 16? Who can help you get there? What has kept you from this life in the past?
