There’s one word that should come to your mind when thinking about earning money for your coaching business. Guess what? That word is NOT “money”. It’s “serve”.
One of the questions most often asked by coaches is, “How can I create a money-making routine for my business”. So, here are some helpful tips that will help you answer this question, set up a healthy mindset around making money, and build a strong foundation of money-making strategies.
Serve. Serve. Serve.
It all starts with your mindset. While making money is a vital part of running any business, your top priority is not to be “making money”, it is to be “serving”. Here’s what that looks like for you…
- Who do you know?
- What do they need?
- How can you help them?
Let’s break this down a little further…
You want to focus your mindset on these three areas. Start by thinking about who you know. Then, think about what those people need. Finally, you want to think about how you can help them get what they need. How can you “serve” them?
Don’t Be Afraid To Talk
Coaches often rely on their email or social media as the primary forms of communication with their clients. But try shifting your mindset. Get out of your comfort zone and focus on making your communication more personal whenever possible.
What does this look like, exactly? Let’s take a look…
A great place to start is by scheduling a phone call with your clients when you first start getting to know each other. This adds a personal touch and helps humanize both you and your clients.
Don’t hide behind the comfort of your social media accounts or your email. Instead, connect with your client heart to heart. Be a good listener. Take notes during your conversations. Study those notes and use them as a reference for figuring out how you can actually help them get both what they want and need.
The Goal of 10
Another important area for you to place your focus is on the goal of 10. Set a goal for your coaching business to reach out to at least 10 people per week. Make this a habit – have real conversations with those 10 people each week.
By now, you may be wondering, “How does this actually help me to earn money for my coaching business”. Well, here’s your answer…
CONVERSATIONS ARE THE KEY TO MAKING MONEY.
What you need to remember as a coach is that these types of conversations are critical.
Try focusing on how you can schedule these 10 conversations each week. Pull out your planner, your calendar, or whatever else helps keep your business organized. Then ask yourself each week, “How many conversations do I have on my schedule”.
Without these targeted “connection conversations”, you really won’t have a lot of interaction with people. And without a lot of interaction with people, you really won’t have a lot of income coming in.
Do You Have a Money-Making Routine
Do you have a good money-making routine? The best way to answer this question is to evaluate whether or not you have a lot of clients. Are you having regular “connection conversations” with people?
Show up and be a professional. Don’t treat your business as a hobby. When you shift from this hobby mindset into a professional one, everything will change.
Remember, think about the word “serve” over the word “money”, make your conversations more personal, and focus on the goal of 10.
